I am finally on Twitter @steveDCR, where I will more than likely be finding out what other people are listening too, rather than ‘tweeting’ myself….
Show Synopsis:
The Electronic Tonic aims to showcase the very best in electronic music, be it for the club or for somewhere else entirely – anything goes! The show aims to give light to those artists utilising modern technology to bring alive their musical inspiration, be it laptops, desktops, gizmos, gadgets, samplers, synthesisers and any other music making machine.
Steve says “In my opinion electronic music is not given the respect it deserves. Although born from clubs, electronica has grown to become much more than just a beat to dance to and is a much deeper, challenging beast altogether. The electronic world tends to concern itself too much with The Track, and I think the genres have suffered because of this. My aim in doing this show is to highlight the artist and album”.
‘From the DCR Dungeon’ dusts off an old favourite – previous artists that have featured include The Orb, Plump DJs, Depeche Mode, Primal Scream, Roni Size and Massive Attack.
‘Deeply Dippy’ essentially two tracks chosen off two albums, dipped at random, live on air from a large DCR sack full of every electronic album Steve has ever purchased.
‘The Alternative Electronic Tonic’ aims to elaborate on genres and themes only able to be touched on in the usual ‘Tonic. Look out for hour long shows dedicated to electronic genres, topics and labels. These shows will be pretty infrequent, just every now and again, just something different. Past shows have include an Autechre special.
