post Introducing

Firstly thanks to all who came last night to see Introducing at Bardens Boudoir. It was a fantastic event and Introducing were absolutely superb, to recreate DJ Shadows Endtroducing so well was a feat not achievable by any haphazard band, fortunately they are not any haphazard band. It took six months of hard work for the band to reach a level of competence with the album before they even thought about taking it on the road. I felt I was watching something really special, something I never thought I would ever see, every nuance, groove and tone was replicated perfectly with an overall heavenly warmth, I haven’t seen something that good at Bardens in a long time, so yes it got the thumbs up from me !

Thanks go in a big way to all the guys who supported, Geste rocked up with his crew and seemed to play anything he could get his hands on while never straying from grated beats and his vocalists added an unexpected dimension. I haven’t seen Rival Consoles in over a year and I think he’s come on a great deal, the beats are tight as ever, I always love the position he sits in in terms of electronic music; perfectly seated between the dance-floor and IDM and it suits him well, his new visual rig is too complicated for my brain to fathom but looks wicked and suits the music perfectly. Angrydan sat in main support and whipped the crowd with aplomb, his mix of beats, grooves, nursery rhymes and comedy got everyone in the mood for music, which left 10 Rapid who rocked the floor with his usual weighted presence to the weary warriors !

It was a great night and I’m really thankful to all who came, I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.

Thanks also to Bardens, H, Jimbo, Digby, T, Gem & Tom

Much Love

View from a carpark

You may have noticed but DCR can be a little London-centric, in fact to be specific it can be more than a little North London-centric.

So I thought I’d try and readdress the balance to the south slightly (can’t do much about the London bit though).

If you have a spare evening up until the end of September head down to Peckham, find the Peckham Cinema and make your way to the top of the 10 floor carpark above it. The lifts feel like they are going to drop at any second and there are no lights on the stairs but believe me it is worth it.

At the top is temporary bar, Frank’s Cafe, open from 11am to 10pm every Thursday to Sunday until 30 September. There are also artworks and large sculptures dotted around. But the most impressive thing is the view of the city spanning the horizon. Once you’re up there you won’t be able take your eyes off it. You can watch the sun set and as night falls the lights in the buildings glow.

Sorry this doesn’t have much to do with music, althought I think they do have a jazz band up there occasionally, but after seeing it for myself I had to share.

Frank's Cafe

Of course if you are still bored and stuck in North London get yourself over to the Introducing show at Barden’s Boudoir on 20 August organised by Different Class Radio. You can get tickets here.

We are very pleased to be announcing this line up for Thursday 20th August at Bardens Boudoir.

We have 4 support artists plus a ten piece, YES TEN PIECE, band playing DJ Shadows epic masterpiece Endtroducing !

Introducing

Take the idea of the “world’s first completely sampled album” and turn it around by playing the whole thing live. It’s hard to imagine that it’s now over a decade since DJ Shadow released his classic debut album ‘Endtroducing’ – an album that inspired a generation of musicians. Now, for the first time ever in the U.K – a complete, note for note live band reworking of DJ Shadow’s classic masterpiece, performed Live by Introducing, a 10 Piece London based outfit dedicated to recreating the entire experience.
This is going to be special !

Angrydan

His live shows combine looped vocals, beatboxing, live guitar, synthesizer, sampled beats, and real-time dynamic FX processing. His music flows from bass led vocal pop to Glitch-core Drum & Bass. We’ve had our eye on Angrydan since hearing the gorgeous tones of Deaf, Dumb and Blind, only then to find out he does a complete counterpoint live and fucks it up pusher style.

Rival Consoles

Arguably the flag ship of prominent indie label Erased Tapes, Rival Consoles has just seen the release of his album ‘IO’ to critical acclaim:’West’s Rival Consoles project revives the schism between the commercial house music of suburban hell-holes and the perverted beats of electronica’s golden boys. A massive slice of jagged grandiosity… ‘IO’ is a party record even snobs can enjoy.’ (7/10) – NME (UK) , ‘Thrilling stuff, primed for the more discerning floors…’ Top Download – Bleep (UK)We made RC artist of the month last year and we’re very very pleased to have him on our bill, get ready for some sublime electronica!

10 Rapid

With remixes for the likes of Cagedaby, Koma & Bones and Stone Lion which won him the Marine Parade remix competition, 10 Rapid has had a busy busy year with the likes of Adam Freeland, Plump DJ’s, Groove Armada, Alex Metric & Evil Nine all rocking his tunes worldwide and backing his beat-mastery.He is currently recording his debut album ‘Minor Riot’ from which he will be playing exclusive tracks.

Geste

Signed to Berlin’s Equinox Records Geste’s IDM  electronica compositions may not sound connected to Punk Hardcore, Pop, Jazz, Classical, or any other genre of music. Nonetheless, he’s a  typical musical journey, from the darkest black metal of his early years to the glitchest electronic music he now composes..
His work as Geste was yet another way to explore new soundscapes. His curiosity made him try computer generated music and naturally led to a completely unique sound and approach. What started as an improvised “game” became a strong and powerful mixture of sound layers of many origins.

Firstly I want to state the obvious for those who were there, I’m incredibly sorry about the sound issues we had last night. We had the DVD professionally mixed, ran tests previous to the night and although we had some problems it was all sorted well in advance only for things to go gremlin state again, it was very frustrating.  That said, we don’t blame Pangea either we were just unlucky, they are great people at Pangea and we hope to work with them again.

BUT you will be able to watch the whole thing on our site very soon !!! keep an eye open.

I do feel it was a positive night and we’re already thinking about the next doc. we have learnt  a lot.

Thanks very much to all  who came, see you at Introducing x

and spare a thought for the legend that was Bobby Robson, a true gentlemen and master of the game.
